Polygonum Cuspidatum Extract may promote cardiovascular health through its antioxidant action and its ability to assist healthy platelet function and maintain healthy arachidonic acid metabolism. Resveratrol acts as an antibacterial and antifungal agent. It is also believed to benefit cognitive health by fighting free radicals that may cause mental deterioration.
Acetyl-resveratrol is classified as a prodrug under medicinal chemistry and is considered more stable than trans-resveratrol. Resveratrol (3,5,4'-trihydroxy-trans-stilbene) is a stilbenoid, a type of natural phenol, and a phytoalexin produced naturally by several plants (botanical/herbal) – especially the roots of the Japanese Knotweed, from which it is extracted commercially – when under attack by pathogens such as bacteria or fungi.
