Bitter melon is the fruit of the gourd family plant Bitter melon. Bitter melon is native to East India and is widely cultivated in tropical to temperate regions of the world, with widespread cultivation in both North and South China. Bitter melon extract has good hypoglycemic effects and is known as plant insulin. The full component extract is used for type 2 diabetes. It is taken three times a day, 2g each time, and can keep the blood sugar at a normal level. Because it is plant extract, it has no side effects compared with western medicine antidiabetic drugs.
