Tamarindus indica L. is an evergreen tree of the genus Tamarindus indica. The bark of capers is dark gray, irregularly longitudinally divided, the lobules are oblong, and the tip is blunt or slightly concave. Inflorescence at top of branch, raceme, flowers yellow or variegated with purple-red stripes; Pod cylindrical oblong, swollen, brown, not dehiscent; [12] The flowering period is from April to June, and the fruit ripens from February to May of the following year. [11] [13] Capers get their name because they taste sweet and sour and are rich in many organic acids. [14]

Originally from Africa, it is now widely cultivated in various tropical areas, distributed in Yunnan, Taiwan, Fujian and other provinces of China, and common in the Jinsha River valley from southern to northern Yunnan Province, [13] The southern hills and coastal sand badlands of Hainan Island often grow in patches, and occasionally appear in the fringes of mangrove forests, with a strong nature that likes light but not shade, requires little soil, and has few diseases and pests. The tree is majestic and beautiful. The breeding mode of capers is sowing propagation. [15]
