Sophora Japonica flower buds belong to the family Fabaceae and are the flower buds of the plant Sophora japonica. The Latin name is Sophora japonica L. The flower buds are oval or elliptical in shape, measuring 2-6mm in length and approximately 2mm in diameter. The calyx is yellowish-green, with several longitudinal stripes at the bottom. Above the calyx are the yellowish-white unopened petals. The pedicel is very small. It is light in weight and breaks easily when pinched. It has no odor and has a slightly bitter and astringent taste. The flower buds are harvested when they form in summer, dried promptly, and the branches, stems, and impurities are removed.
