Scutellaria Baicalensis is a plant belonging to the family Lamiaceae and the genus Scutellaria. (Latin name: Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi)
Perennial herb; the rootstock is thick, fleshy, with a diameter of up to 2 centimeters, elongated and branched. The stem is prostrate at the base, ascending, reaching a height of (15) 30 - 120 centimeters. The basal diameter is 2.5 - 3 millimeters, trilobed, with fine stripes, nearly hairless or covered with short to spreading fine hairs, green or purple-streaked, with many branches from the base.
It is produced in Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Henan, Gansu, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Shandong, Sichuan and other places. It is cultivated in Jiangsu. It grows on sunny grassy slopes and barren lands, at an altitude of 60 - 1300 (1700 - 2000) meters.
