Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a compound needed for the proper functioning of an enzyme, protein that speeds up the rate at which chemical reaction takes place in body. It is found in every cell of the body. CoQ10 is ubiquitous in human tissues, although its level is variable. The primary biochemical action of CoQ10 is as a cofactor in the electron-transport chain, in the series of redox reactions that are involved in the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate.
