Product Overview & Benefits

We all know that the olive tree is traditionally a symbol of the Mediterranean culture. Its fruits and their oil hold an important role in the Mediterranean diet by protecting against coronary heart challenges and cardiovascular stress in general.

The biological properties of olive oil are related not only to its fatty acid composition but also to the presence of some components with strong antioxidant activity, mostly phenolic compounds.

Opextan®, Olea europaea L. pulp extract, is standardized to convey polyphenols like hydroxytyrosol, tyrosol and isoacteoside but also, among all the phytonutrients, verbascoside, considered the most powerful antioxidant in olive oil.

Olive polyphenols are free radical scavengers with a direct impact on skin health. Indeed, Opextan® has been found beneficial in supporting skin health and optimizing oxidative status in healthy volunteers.

The characteristic phytonutrient in Opextan® is verbascoside, a very potent antioxidant, 5-fold more active than oleuropein, with free-radical scavenging activity that has a direct impact on skin health, preventing oxidative stress associated with wrinkles generation, skin thinning, and dehydration.
