Boswellia serrata (Family – Burseraceae) is commonly known as Salai guggal or shallaki . The resin fraction of Boswellia serrata is rich in Boswellic acids. The active constituents of this effective herb are boswellic acids are organic acids consisting of a pentacyclic triterpene. Among all the Boswellic acids of Boswellia, the two most active, potent and promising are Alpha-boswellic acid and beta-boswellic acid.
